Theatre West

New writing. It's what we do. From 1997 to 2013 we did it in one little place but now we're going to be doing all over the place! We upped sticks from the Alma Tavern, the venue we created, in 2014 and since then we've been visiting venues around Bristol and beyond producing some of the sparkiest new writing around.

We continue to work with some of the region's most creative organisations - recent projects have seen us collaborating with Bristol Old Vic, Tobacco Factory Theatres, Cheltenham Everyman, The Bike Shed in Exeter and Stepping Out Theatre Company.

2014 saw us producing our 100th new play and we're tremendously proud of that achievement. It's been brilliant to watch the blossoming careers of writers who we've worked with early on as they go on to bigger things.

No season of new writing from us this year. Sadly we were refused funding but we're supporting a trio of the city's brightest talents by staging rehearsed readings of new work by Jenny Davis, Oliver Gamblin and Nick Havergal. Read more here
